Formation and targeting

Use board geometry, attack range, targeting, and adjacency effects without guessing what a stage contains.

01

Read the enemy formation first

Every stage page includes the enemy formation and board coordinates shipped for that layout. The route planner can narrow the 246 player-facing layouts by act, floor, type, and difficulty.

Front rows absorb short-range pressure. Back rows buy time for ranged or mana-dependent heroes, but several effects explicitly check the front row, back row, adjacency, isolation, or exact distance.

02

Treat adjacency text literally

Effects that say adjacent, exactly one adjacent ally, nearest ally, or only ally in a row use distinct conditions in the shipped data. A formation that satisfies one does not automatically satisfy the others.

Verify the exact wording on the item, relic, or rank-modifier page. The resolved effect text is the player-facing source of truth, while the relationship graph shows which pools and systems can surface it.
